Hello
James Silverman MS L.Ac., LMT
Voted "Best Massage" in Westchester Magazine's Best of Westchester 2008 issue, James has worked in the field of bodywork and health care for the past eighteen years.

James obtained his Master's degree in Acupuncture from Tri-State College of Acupuncture in New York City and received his Diplomat in Acupuncture through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). He also received his NYS License in Massage Therapy through the Swedish Institute of Massage in New York City.
At Union Square Acupuncture & Massage and Mount Kisco Acupuncture & Massage, James combines classical acupuncture with Acupuncture Physical Medicine (APM) to focus on the individual needs of the patient. Drawing from classical meridian acupuncture styles from China, Japan and Europe as well as modern principles of osteopathy and physical medicine, James uses an eclectic approach of both traditional and new principles of acupuncture.
Acupuncture has been used throughout Asia for thousands of years and has been documented in American medical journals as a beneficial form of treatment for a variety of ailments.
Acupuncture uses the application of sterile, single use, disposable needles during a treatment session. These needles are hair thin and flexible. Acupuncture works on strengthening the body's own natural healing abilities. It increases circulation and stimulates the immune system to facilitate healing. Individuals who want to avoid the side effects of long term use of pain medication, for example, have found success with acupuncture.
During a treatment session, some patients report feeling anything from a "sensation" in the part of the body receiving the treatment to nothing at all. Others become so relaxed, they fall asleep.

In his massage practice, James specializes in deep tissue and orthopedic massage. He listens to the needs of his clients and adjusts the pressure and style based on each individual. His eclectic approach and attention to detail landed him in Westchester Magazine's Best of Westchester 2008 issue.
